STARTING YOUR LIFE IN SOUTH AFRICA
UK citizens moving to South Africa may import household effects and personal items duty free. South African citizens moving back to the Republic may also import items duty free provided they have been out of the country for at least six months. At Arrowpac, our East Anglia team will provide you with the correct documentation, which you will need to complete before departure.
There is currently no quarantine for cats and dogs entering South Africa from the UK as long as all the paperwork is completed correctly – if not, then animals are subject to 60 days’ quarantine. All cats and dogs must be microchipped.
Cars and motorcycles must be granted import approval before being shipped to South Africa. Import duty is high, so please make further enquiries before proceeding; we at Arrowpak International will be happy to help. A British photocard driving licence is valid in South Africa. You must carry your licence with you every time you drive.
