How to Get Organised For Moving Day

Did you know that the average UK citizen moves at least 8 times through the course of their life? As exciting as moving to a new home can be, for many of us, a house move can also be one of the most stressful experiences that we go through.

To help minimise the stress of the moving process, we’ve put together a list of list essential tips to help you stay on top of things on your big day:

Start the packing process as early as you can

Although packing is the kind of chore most of us love to procrastinate on, it’ll only make moving day a lot more stressful if we do. Set realistic timelines for how long the entire process will actually take.

You should aim to start packing at least six weeks before the big day so you can be ready on time. Depending on the size of your home, this should give you enough time to decide what you want to keep and what you want to give away.

Label, label, label

How well you’ve organised and labelled all your boxes can make a big difference in how efficiently the moving day process goes. If you’re hiring professional removalists for the move, they’ll be more than grateful that you’ve labelled your belongings clearly.

Label all sides of the boxes and include a short description of what the boxes hold and which room they need to be moved to. We’d recommend colour coding your labels to make them even easier to spot.

Hire a team of professional removalists

This is the one thing that can make the biggest difference to your moving day. A professional removals company will save you a lot of time and will be able to move all your belongings without any damages or losses along the way. Many removal companies also offer packing services so you can ensure that your things are packed as safely and securely as possible.

Lay down cardboard boxes to prevent floor damage

Feeling stressed about potential damage to your new (and old) home on moving day? Ease your worries by flattening and laying down old cardboard boxes. This way you won’t have to worry about any accidental damage or scuff marks on the floor. All you have to do is focus on getting yourself moved in!
