Tips to Ensure that Your House Removal Goes Flawlessly

As much as everyone hates to move, people hate it even more when things go wrong during the process of moving. Be it a broken family heirloom, a torn sofa or a bed that won’t fit through the front door, there are many disasters that can ruin even the most carefully planned house removals. And while using an experienced removals company is a great first step to minimising the risk when moving, there are still many important things that you’re going to have to take care of yourself.

While most removal services will make great strides to make your move go smoothly, you should incorporate the following tips as well if you want it to go absolutely flawlessly!

Make Sure Everything is Safely Packed

First and most important is to make sure that everything is properly packed, especially things that are fragile.

When packing, here is a quick list of some things that you should make sure to do:

  • Pack your home one room at a time.
  • Do not exceed 15 kilos per box, unless it is a box specifically designed for heavier weights.
  • Try to have boxes in a variety of sizes, as this will be helpful for packing different types of items.
  • Start by packing the things you need least, saving the things that you use often for last.
  • Get rid of all unnecessary items, it’s senseless to box up and move things that you don’t need!
  • Make sure to fill up all empty gaps when packing boxes using some sort of packing material, such as newspaper or bubble wrap.
  • Stack heavy boxes at the bottom, and lighter boxes at the top.
  • Have removal companies do all the hard work!

Don’t Wait to the Last Minute to Get Started

When moving home, it’s a wise idea to get as early a start as possible. The earlier you begin, the more time you’ll have to deal with any potential problems that may arise.

When you begin your packing early, you’ll have more time to get it done properly, minimizing the chances of you doing a poor job.

Make Sure to Use Good Quality Boxes

You should also make sure that the boxes that you’re using to pack your valuables are of a high quality. You want thick cardboard that will be able to easily support at least 15 kilos.

Cheap, thin cardboard boxes are a great way to end up with broken items, and should be avoided at all costs. A company that specialises in house removals and storage is a great place to look for high quality cardboard boxes.

Pack a Suitcase

For the day of the move another great tip is to pack a suitcase as if you’ll be going on vacation. Even though you’ll have all of your things at your new home they’ll still be packed, and despite your best efforts, many of your things will be difficult to find for the first few days as you unpack.

Therefore, you should have everything that you’ll need for work, as well as enough clothing and toiletries for about a week – just to be safe – packed in an easy to access suitcase.

Use a Removal Company that You Can Trust

Probably the most important thing that you can do to ensure that your move goes smoothly is to employ the services of a house removal company. But it’s important that you choose the right company, one with years of experience and a reputation for flawless removals.
